Reporting Fraud

If you suspect fraud, waste, abuse, or misconduct related to the Housing Authority of Cook County (HACC), it's crucial to report it to maintain the integrity of our programs and services.

What to Report:

Gather Relevant Information:
  • Obtain Names, addresses, and contact information of involved parties.
  • Prepare a summary of events and any supporting evidence.
  • Provide dates, times, and frequency of occurrences.
  • Provide location details.
  • Provide any known motives.
  • Describe any known methods used in the incident.
  • Send your report to the Housing Authority of Cook County, 10 S. LaSalle Street, Suite 2200, Chicago, IL 60603 or send it by email to fraud@thehacc.org.
Confidentiality:

Your identity will remain confidential unless disclosure is required by law, ensuring protection and effective follow-up during the investigation.

Investigation Process:

The HACC takes all reports seriously, but not all reports will lead to the opening of a fraud case; some reports may be referred to the appropriate HACC office or to another agency. Some reports may provide insufficient supportive evidence with which to proceed further.

Once submitted, the HACC cannot provide status updates or additional information during the review. The HACC has the final decision on whether a case will be pursued.
