It has been a privilege to be a Commissioner of the HACC since June 2014. This appointment has been the culmination of my commitment to public service as shown by my educational background, work experience and board service. I have a BA in sociology from Newcomb College, a masters in urban planning from the University of Illinois and a law degree from DePaul University, I have worked as Deputy Corporation Counsel for the City of Chicago, as a municipal lawyer for Ancel, Glink, Diamond and Murphy, P.C., and as a Community Planner for the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and for the Illinois Department of Local Government Affairs(now Department of Commerce and Community Affairs), and finally, I have served as board member of the Illinois State Board of Education, the Hispanic Alliance for Career Enhancement and the Latino Institute. The HACC does an outstanding job in providing affordable housing for Cook County, maintaining its housing portfolio and providing social services to its residents. I hope to continue to serve this outstanding organization for many years to come.
